Cultural Activities

Chongwe River Camp offers guests interested in finding out more about the rich heritage of the local Goba people the opportunity to visit the nearby Chiawa Cultural Village.

This living cultural museum immerses guests in the colourful traditions and customs of the Goba tribe, whose traditional leader, her Royal Highness Chieftainess Chiyaba, is based in Chiawa, on the banks of the Zambezi close to its confluence with the Kafue river.

Visitors to the cultural village learn about all aspects of daily Goba life, from how traditional medicines are made from locally growing plants and trees to food preparation, artistic expression, dance and music.

Visits to local schools and villages can also be arranged for those interested in finding out more about the way of life in the Lower Zambezi Valley.
