Born and raised in Chiawa village, Richman has been guiding since 1996, working in a variety of lodges and for safari operations before joining the Chongwe team in 2007.
A junior conservationist at school, it came as no surprise to his family when Richman announced that he wanted to go into guiding, even though it has led to some hair-raising encounters.
“I remember coming very close to being chomped by a rather large hippo in the Chifungulu Channel (a channel of the Zambezi in the Lower Zambezi National Park) and have been charged by elephants a number of times,” he chuckles.
Richman specialises in canoeing, boating safaris and fishing.
